my marie trip

My maraie trip story on one thursday morning kahikatea team went to pu rerikreki  just

road from actionatomotive . When  we arrived at the marai we watted for  

Pipi/Hami /and  the owner to unlock the marai. while we watted  we played a game called starlight midnight. Then there were two Groups  one Group had been there so they did,nt

need to be welcomed. On to the marae but the other group hadn't been there before .

finally they went into the marai .  But the rest of them had to wait to be welcomed on to the marai. Then whaea kathie welcomed us on to the marai then we had to sing pirongia tau tat

then it was our turn to sing the song then.  We all said hello to all of them then we got out our

lunch boxes and put them on the bench for lunch. Then we started doing  the weaving /calving the singing or else helping with the food or drinks. And then it was morning tea time we had about 10 to 15 minutes of play time. But we had a fun time at morning tea then we had to swap .then i went to the singing group for the day  1 but i  got good at it and got the hang of it so well then it was lunch time it was a good lunch time we had at  least twenty to half an hour play Time mr gemel played soccer with us it was really fun  in the afternoon then it was potluck dinner which is a  shared Dinner we stayed up until 6 pm that is  is when Pipi/ and Hamie  left  home to the other side of  Hamilton once they left we all had to have to do our teeth then some people helped  with tacking the tables putting them  outside  so the adults can get to sleep  they were Lucky because they got cummfy ground matrices but I would call it concret then the boys got wood no air conditioner . Inside but the girls  got aircondition  I said that is unfair then in the morning.  I had wetbix 3 bits it was yum!!!!!

Only the side of  the moon that is facing the sun reflects sunlight.the second stage  is the waxing Moon the waxing is when the moon looks bigger he waxing crescent moon each night .The waxing crescent moon is when the moon looks like a banana some people say.

Then the next stage is… the full moon is when you can see all the moons surface . Allso there is a special meaning about it .It is when maori new year begins .

And Then the last stage is the waning moon  the moon looks bigger each time .

Some extra facts

The moon helps with the tides come in and go out as the moon orbits the earth .

It’s gravity pulls the surface of the oceans towards it .this helps to cause the tides .Also some old stories say that the moon is leaving us . IT Moves 4 kilometres each year.

The Borrowers Film study

The movie the borrowers was created in (1997) directed by Peter hewitt Produced by Debra hayward/Liza chasin

In the movie The Borrowers, they use a close up to give you an evil feeling of Mr Potter.  Mr Potter is a lawyer. You should not trust him. His face tells you what's going to happen next. You get a good close up on Potters  face. It’s almost like a extreme close up on Potter's face.

The director used a bird’s eye view to show when Mr P Potter smashed the exterminator’s ‘gun’ onto the ground.  This view shows us that Potter didn’t care about the gun or the exterminator’s property.  This gives us a feeling of knowing about Potter but we can’t warn the exterminator.

They all use extreme close up on the hammer on the wall to make us know that Potter hates the Borrowers.  They start going from close up to extreme close up on the wall and cross cut to and from the humans on both sides of the wall. This shows that Potter is trying to get the kids out of the wall and kill them.  It shows  that he really wants the will that they took.

Enviro day with room nine and five

this year for enviro days we have been doing  water planting Herbs and saw how we could fix these boring Gardens and maybe plant them and make each house have a planting box


So back to term 1 first we discused what  we can do to stop watter from Getting wasted  then we walked all around the  school and figure out how we store water  and one of my places where in the guters and in the taps as well as the pool witch that holds about 500 leters witch is heaps so do you see why we need to look after?


term 2 this term we have been looking at how we can re plant rosmary sage  thime and heaps heaps more  so can you think of some ways we can re plant diffrent typs of ways you can plant think of some stuff and put it on comment I will see you soon

last  week   rm9 and 5had  a  enviro  day   in  the  gardens  geting  our  hands  dirty  and  geting

Marae Noho

This year, Kahikatea Team went on a trip to Purikireiki Marae.  We learnt how to weave putiputi which wasn't so easy.  I learnt how to carve wood. That was really tiring.  I also learnt how to do the tititoria which is the game with sticks. I learnt how to do our waiata with actions.

About Me

This year I am in Room 9 with Mrs Strathern.  I am a year 5 and I have lots of friends.  I like doing math and writing.  I need to work on my reading this year.
